Wolfgang Neubauer presented the new sensational finds in Carnuntum at a press conference together with Franz Humer, Markus Wachter and Petra Buhuslav. From 2011 to 2015, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological Prospection and Virtual Archaeology (LBI ArchPro) and its international partner consortium were running a large-scale archaeological prospection project at the Roman town of Carnuntum. In summer 2014 Florian Wolfbeißer successfully completed an internship at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological Prospection and Virtual Archaeology as part of his diploma thesis. His work was ranked among the top 20 by the FFG Talent Programme. Since 2010 Wolfgang Neubauer and the LBI ArchPro have been surveying important Viking Age sites in Norway, Sweden and Denmark in order to resolve some of the Viking Age mysteries. Through non-invasive archaeological high-tech at international top level, Viking Age halls, harbours, burial mounds and ships have been discovered since then.Credit: LBI ArchPro.
